Today we continued with the reading from the Bhakti-ratnākara, First Wave in which Gopāla Bhaṭṭa arrives in Vṛndāvana. Lord Caitanya was very happy to receive letter from Rūpa and Santāna, giving news of arrival of Gopāla Bhaṭṭa in Vṛndāvana and sent gifts and letter for them.
Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja wrote about Lord Caitanya’s tour of South India elaborately, but Gopāla Bhaṭṭa forbade him to write his account in the book because of his humility.
Śrīnivāsa Ācārya had travelled to Nīlācala to take initiation from Lord Caitanya but by then He had already left. Then he was told to take initiation from Gadādhara Paṇḍita, in his dream. But Gadādhara Paṇḍita sent him back to get a fresh copy of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. He travelled back and forth and finally he was sent to Vṛndāvana to take initiation from Rūpa and Sanātana Gosvāmīs. By the time he reached Vṛndāvana, Rūpa and Sanātana had just left. He was then instructed by Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī to take initiation from Gopāla Bhaṭṭa and that Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī would be his śikṣā guru and teach him. Like this, on the order of the Lord Caitanya, Śrīnivāsa Ācārya became the disciple of Gopāla Bhaṭṭa.
