Jayapataka Swami:  He did! As His expansion as Sankarsana, He came as Viswarupa. When He joined the sankirtan movement of Lord Caitanya and Lord Caitanya said that He is My brother. So He came in two ways, as Sankarsan and as Nityananda that is the lila specialty. Lord Caitanya asked Lord Nityananda to return to Bengal and finish the work that He had started. Lord Nityananda took some devotees and went back to Panihati, to Navadvip, Surabi Kunja and He spread the Namahatta and the Sankirtan movement. Since Lord Nityananda had started the Namahatta and Bhakti Vinod Thakur had restarted it, and then it died out so we restarted it! And Bhakti Vrksa groups are like Urban Namahattas.
