Question: I have a question about Krsna consciousness and other religions in the world. In Islam and Christianity, they talk about going to the spiritual world but at the same time they are eating meat. Will they go to the spiritual world or not?

Jayapataka Swami: It says in the Ten Commandments, ‘Thou shall not kill’ and if we kill an animal, they say we shouldn’t do that. There are obstacles in the path. Srila Prabhupada was saying that some of the Christians, they were faithful, they would go to some higher planet like Jana Loka. So from Jana Loka, maybe they can go back to the spiritual world. I was thinking, that we should look in the Bible where it says, Kingdom of God. Because, according to our cosmology, they say up to the heavenly planets it is material and beyond that is the Kingdom of God, the spiritual world. So Lord Jesus wanted His followers to have love of Godhead and unfortunately, some do, some don’t. But there is a lot of similarity between the different religions. Lord Caitanya, He quoted the Quran in the Caitanya Caritamrita and He said that Allah was a person. And it is said that Allah was a light, but He said Allah was a person. So some of the Islamic scholars, they accepted that. They say that the Islamic pandits said that Allah was not personal. But in the Quran it says that Allah is very kind, you will think a light bulb is kind?  He has so many personal qualities of Allah. So these are symptoms that He is actually a person. Maybe in the desert there is not much vegetation to eat, so they people eat meat. But in India or in other places like Indonesia, there is lot of vegetation, and you can easily eat vegetables. I heard that there are some places in the Quran, where it says you should not eat cow.
