Question: In the Teachings of Lord Caitanya, Srila Prabhupada says we have to follow in the footsteps of the six Goswamis of Vrndavan, especially in the path chalked out by Srila Jiva Goswami. Can you please explain and elaborate on how we can do it?

Jayapataka Swami: You see Lord Caitanya, He had given a specific service for the six Goswamis, and Rupa Goswami was the chief. Rupa and Sanatana, their brother was Anupam, and their brother’s son was Jiva. Jiva Goswami, he studied Sanskrit at the Banaras University, and he became very expert in the Sanskrit language. He wrote the Six Sandarbas which are the most complete philosophical treatise on the vaisnava, Gaudiya vaisnava siddhanta. So if you follow Jiva Goswami and his Six Sandarbas, Shad Sandarbas, then you will be very firmly fixed up. It says that Rupa and Santana were the Viswa Vaisnava Branch Sabha Chiefs. Then after them there was Jiva Goswami. So he was the Viswa Vaisnava Sabha Head. Just like we see that Srila Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Thakur,he was the ViswaVaisnava Rajya Sabha leader, after that it seems that His Divine Grace Abhaycaran Bhakti Vedanta Swami Prabhupada was also the Rajya Sabha protector, because he protected all of the instructions of Srila Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Thakur. So first comes Rupa Goswami and after him is Sri Jiva Goswami. He wrote more books and the six Sandarbas. Rupa Goswami wrote several books but not as much as Jiva Goswami.
