Privacy Policy — Jayapataka Swami App

  1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the Jayapataka Swami App (“the App,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile applications on iOS and Android.

The App is the official mobile application for spiritual content and services related to His Holiness Jayapataka Swami, including messages, teachings, photos, videos, music, seva tools, and optional account features.

  • You can browse much of the App without creating an account (guest mode).
  • If you sign in, we store account and profile information in Google Firebase.
  • If you turn on notifications, we use a device token to send push alerts about new posts.
  • Some features (Ask Maharaj, feedback, AI chat, seva logging) involve information you choose to submit.
  • We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used. We do not intentionally send emails, prayer counts, or free-text feedback in analytics.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not collect precise location, contacts, camera, or microphone data through the App.
  1. Information we collect

3.1 Information you provide

Account and profile (optional)

If you register or sign in, we may collect and store:

  • Email address and password (email sign-in), or account identifiers from Google or Apple sign-in
  • Name and initiated name
  • Spiritual master and your relation to guru (as you enter in your profile)
  • Phone number, country, city, and address (optional profile fields)
  • Content language preference

This information is stored in Firebase Firestore and linked to your account.

Guest use

If you use the App without signing in, we may store limited preferences on your device (such as language, theme, and whether you completed the intro). We do not create a full account profile for guests.

Messages and forms you submit

Ask Jayapatātā Swami: Your question and profile details from your account. Sent by email to our care team at jps-care@jayapatakaswami.com and queued through Firebase.

Send feedback: Free-text feedback. Stored in Firebase and emailed to jps-app@jayapatakaswami.com.

Report a problem: Description of the issue plus device and app details (see below). Stored in Firebase and emailed to jps-app@jayapatakaswami.com.

Please do not include sensitive personal information in feedback unless you are comfortable sharing it with our support team.

Seva and engagement (signed-in users)

If you use these features while signed in, we store activity linked to your account:

  • Prayer and offering counts you log
  • Book distribution entries and totals
  • Bhagavad-gita pledge counts
  • Messages you mark as favorites
  • Aggregate favorite and share counts on posts (not tied to your public identity on the post itself)

When you share a message, the App may generate a link so others can open that content. Sharing uses your device’s normal share options.

JPS AI Assistant (signed-in, email required)

If you use the in-app AI chat, we send your messages and profile information (such as name, email, guru relation, and city) to our JPS AI service at https://ai.jayapatakaswami.com. Chat history is stored on that service. AI use is optional and requires a signed-in account with an email address.

3.2 Information collected automatically

Push notifications

If you allow notifications on your device:

  • We obtain an FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) device token
  • The token may be stored on your device and, when you are signed in, in your Firestore profile
  • Your device is subscribed to notification topics such as global posts (Everyone) and your content language (for example Message_English)
  • You can turn notifications off in your device settings or in the App under Settings

Push alerts are sent when new content is published on our WordPress sites. They are not private direct messages.

Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand App usage, such as:

  • Screens you visit
  • Sign-in method (email, Google, or Apple)
  • Actions like favoriting or sharing a message, completing the intro, or opening certain features

We design analytics so it does not include your email, name, prayer counts, or the text of your feedback or questions.

Device and diagnostic information

When you report a problem, the App may include:

  • App name and version
  • Platform (iOS or Android)
  • Operating system name and version
  • Device model (on supported platforms)
  • Screen size and language settings

Local storage on your device

The App may store small amounts of data on your device, including:

  • Intro completion status
  • Guest mode flag
  • Theme and language preferences
  • Cached profile data
  • FCM token
  • Anonymous identifier for JPS AI in some flows

Network and server logs

When you load content, our content servers and service providers (such as WordPress hosting, Firebase, and Google) may automatically receive standard technical data, including IP address, date and time of access, and device type. This is common for most mobile apps and websites.

3.3 Information we do not collect through the App

The App does not request access to:

  • Precise GPS location
  • Contacts on your phone
  • Camera or microphone
  • Payment card or banking details (donations open an external website; see Section 6)

We use information to:

  • Provide and improve the App and its features
  • Show content in your chosen language
  • Operate your account and sync your profile
  • Send push notifications you have allowed
  • Record seva activity you choose to log
  • Deliver Ask Maharaj questions, feedback, and problem reports to our team
  • Operate the JPS AI Assistant when you use that feature
  • Monitor performance, fix bugs, and understand usage through analytics
  • Protect the security and integrity of the App

We share information only as needed to run the App:

Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, email delivery): account, data storage, push notifications, analytics, outbound email.

Google: Google Sign-In (if you choose it).

Apple: Sign In with Apple (if you choose it on iOS).

WordPress sites (mobile.spiritualsafari.com, jayapatakaswami.com): public spiritual content loaded in the App.

JPS AI (ai.jayapatakaswami.com): AI chat and related profile sync.

YouTube: Video playback and thumbnails.

SoundCloud: Music playback.

Our email inboxes: Ask Jayapatātā Swami, feedback, and support (jps-care@, jps-app@).

We may also share information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger or organizational change, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

  1. External links and donations

The App may open external websites in your browser, including:

Those sites have their own privacy policies. We do not process donations inside the App. Any payment or personal information you provide on a donation or third-party site is governed by that site’s policy.

  1. Children’s privacy

The App is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at jps-app@jayapatakaswami.com and we will take appropriate steps.

  1. Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the App and for legitimate operational purposes, unless a longer period is required by law.

  • Account data is kept while your account is active.
  • Support emails and reports may be retained as long as needed to respond and maintain records.
  • Analytics data is retained according to Google Firebase settings.

When you delete your account, we delete your Firebase Authentication account and main Firestore records tied to your profile, prayers, and book distribution logs. Some information may remain in backups, email archives already sent to our team, JPS AI chat history, or other records we are required or reasonably need to keep. Contact us if you have questions about deletion.

  1. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information.

In the App you can:

  • Use guest mode or create an account
  • Edit your profile in Profile / Settings
  • Change content language and theme
  • Enable or disable push notifications (device settings and in-app toggle)
  • Sign out
  • Delete your account under Settings → Delete account

We will respond as required by applicable law. If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or certain U.S. states, you may have additional rights under local law.

  1. International transfers

Our service providers (including Google Firebase and hosting in the United States and other countries) may process your information in countries other than where you live. Those countries may have different data protection laws. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred internationally as described in this policy.

  1. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure connections (HTTPS) and Firebase security features. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  1. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a new “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the App or by other appropriate means. Continued use of the App after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
