Guru Maharaj: Generally, 16 rounds take maximum two hours. That is about 7.5 minutes per round. I don’t know why it takes you three hours! Sometimes, I met people and they chanted actually two rounds, one round one way and another way and they counted one round. But actually, they are chanting 32 rounds. Some people take out the beads and chant watching their beads. Sometimes people go two forward one back, two forward one back. And this way they take more time. One person I heard chanting, you can take the tape of your self-chanting and see what you are pronouncing. Some persons get stuck on Rāma. Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa,Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma Hare Rāma,Rāma Rāma,Rāma Rāma Hare Hare! So, see why it is taking you three hours to chant. Maybe you chant very slowly or maybe you are doing double, or I don’t know. if I was there, I would give you a japa course, but since I am not, you can tape your chanting and listen.
