Gauranga – The golden Incarnation of Divine Love

This is the latest book by His Holiness Jayapataka Swami, where he beautifully tells the pastimes of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, beginning from the Lord’s descent, and continuing through the manifest pastimes of Lord Gauranga.

“For several decades, all over the world, thousands of people have been eagerly awaiting this book. Especially myself. In the 1970’s, I would totally absorb myself in hearing tapes of His Holiness Jayapataka Maharaja narrating the pastimes of Lord Caitanya. His incredible knowledge and spontaneous love thrilled my soul. Countless people have had the same experience. When Jayapataka Maharaja speaks, the Lords pastimes are blissfully enacted in our hearts.”
His Holiness Radhanatha Swami

“All the devotees of the Krishna Consciousness movement are helping Lord
Caitanaya in fulfilling His Prediction, which means that they are part of
Lord Caitanya’s pastime. If you take everything as Lord Caitanya’s pastime,
then everything is blissful and exciting. Lord Caitanya’ is also Visvambhara
– He is sustaining and protecting the entire universe. So there is nothing
to fear, but we need to remain faithful to Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu and His
representatives”

Sri Godruma Kalpatavi (“The Desire-tree Grove of Godruma”) is an English translation of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura’s newsletter collection.

Sri Godruma Kalpatavi was originally produced in Bengal one-hundred-and-twenty years ago by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, to guide leaders and members in his preaching movement. The topics discussed are very practical issues often faced by those with families and careers who also want to fully engage in practicing and preaching Krishna consciousness.

His Holiness Jayapataka Maharaja felt Godruma Kalpatavi to be so relevant to the lives of devotees today that he translated the text and inspired the current publication.

From the introduction by His Holiness Jayapataka Swami:

“Householder devotees who hold a normal job, raise children, chant sixteen rounds, help temples in various ways, and do regular Nama-hatta preaching should be recognized for their high standard of dedication. We cannot underestimate the sacrifice it takes to do these things!

Being Krishna conscious with these various responsibilities is certainly a great sacrifice. Yet in ISKCON communities a large number of such dedicated devotees continue to follow Srila Prabhupada’s footsteps.

During Srila Prabhupada’s grhastha period he also fulfilled all his normal duties while giving high priority to fulfilling and furthering his Guru Maharaja’s mission. Some community recognition of such devotees is eventually needed as they are important role models for other grhasthas to take inspiration from.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura stressed the importance of whole households that were sincerely following a Krishna conscious life style and standard. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura wrote in his newsletter Sri Godruma Kalpatavi that such households should be recognized as sraddha-kutirs, or “faithful homes.”

In ISKCON the importance of Krishna conscious households should not be under estimated. The more families that are predominantly Krishna conscious, the more generations of Krishna conscious children that can be produced. Also the whole neighborhood around such families is sanctified and blessed. If ISKCON Temples can recognize such households it will focus on how we encourage Krishna conscious families and appreciate them.”
