Paramananda Madhavam Sri Caitanya Isvaram

Since we are going on a long trip tomorrow to Penang, I would like to have the blessings of Nitai Gaur and of course, Jagannath, Baladeva and Subhadra are sick, but I wanted Their blessings and of Srila Prabhupada! Nitai Gaur are most merciful. They have come to this country, is a great blessing! Lord Nityananda had predicted that this chanting would spread to every town and village. Srila Prabhupada said that not only in Odisha or India, but in the whole world! So I remember that I was at the Arda Kumbha Mela in Prayag, Allahabad. It was in 1971 and Srila Prabhupada went there. So there one pious family from Malaysia saw Srila Prabhupada, in his tent. I remember, Datin Saraswati. She was from Charas. I think it is a suburb of KL. She offered something to Srila Prabhupada. Then Srila Prabhupada came to Malaysia. He visited various places. Then some preaching programs were started in KL and Penang. Thus the Malaysian yatra began. With Srila Prabhupada’s personal presence. So he brought Caitanya Nityananda to this land. There are not so many countries where Srila Prabhupada started the preaching. Many places, he sent devotees first. But here Srila Prabhupada personally came! So this country is truly blessed! He tried to enter Singapore, but they did not allow. Any way that is the history of Malaysia, Iskcon in Malaysia. I was remembering about Nitai Gaur. Lord Caitanya was chanting Hare Krsna all over Navadvip dhama. He was accompanied by Lord Nityananda and others. First Lord Caitanya was known as Nimai Pandit. Although He was only 16 years old, He was the greatest pandit of Navadvip. And one year after His father passed away, He went to Gaya. That was the famous place to do pindi for your deceased father. So He went with some students and other devotees to Visnu Gaya. I think there are 11 Gayas, so They visited the various Gayas and offered pindi for His father. Visnu Gaya as the footprints of Lord Visnu. He pressed it on the chest of Gaya asura. So Gayasur said that he would stay lying in that position until the day when nobody would come to offer pindi. Then he would rise again and kill everybody! So please go to Gaya to keep the asura down! Bless your parents. I went to Gaya and there they have a book of all the people that visit. Srila Prabhupada’s name was there and my name was there! Haribol! So we were with the safari one year and they gave us the imprint of the footprint on a cloth. There Lord Caitanya met Iswara Puri maharaj. And He begged him, please give Me initiation. You already have the brahminical initiation. He had the upanayanam when he was a small child. This was the custom. But He had not received the pancaratrika mantras. So He wanted that initiation from Iswara Puri. Iswara Puri was the favorite disciple of Madhavendra Puri. He had visited Navadvip many times. So he had been a guest in the house of Jagannath Misra. So Lord Caitanya knew him from before. So then He begged him to give Him initiation. Iswara Puri said, that you are a great pandit, how could I give You initiation? “If you don’t give Me initiation, I don’t know how I will live!” So Iswara Puri agreed to give Him initiation. After receiving initiation Lord Caitanya started to feel ecstasy. He started chanting and dancing Hare Krsna. Tears were flowing from His eyes. He saw all the people were staring at Him. So then He stopped and went to offer puja for the lotus foot of Gadadhar Prabhu – Gadadhar, the Visnu avatar. So while offering the pindi and Tulasi leaves to the lotus feet of Gadadhar, He felt great ecstasy. He started to cry. Then He crossed the Phalgu river and decided to go to Vrndavan. All Glories to Vrndavan Beharilal Sri Krsna Bhagavan ki jai! But then a voice came in the sky. Now is not the time for You to go to Vrndavan. You have to go back to NAVADVIP AND START THE SANKIRTAN MOVEMENT! HARIBOL! HARIBOL! So Lord Caitanya turned back. He would not go to Vrndavan now. So sometimes it seems the director of Krsna’s lila has to speak up and say, it is not the time to go to Vrndavan! Ha! Krsna gets really absorbed in His pastimes. So then on the way back to Navadvip He stopped at Kanainatsala. There He saw a cowherd boy in the distance. He was playing on a flute and He gradually came closer. He saw that He had a turban on His head. He had a yellow dhoti. A red sash. He came closer. He saw He had a peacock feather on His turban. He came closer! He had a beautiful smile and ear rings like sharks on His ears. He had a Srivatsa mark on His chest. Lord Caitanya’s hairs stood on end. He saw, this is Krsna Himself! He came closer and closer, smiling! Playing on His flute and dancing! Then when He was very close, He ran up to Lord Caitanya and then He embraced Gauranga! And then then He ran away! And Then Gauranga ran after Him! No, no, no, please! Illai! Illai! Illai! (No, no! no! In Tamil). Then Krsna went behind a tree. Lord Caitanya followed Him. But He could not see Him anymore! Then He fell to the ground and was rolling in the dust. That tree is still there in Kanainatsala. The place where Lord Caitanya rolled on the ground is still there! You can take the dust. So Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur Prabhupada established the lotus feet of Lord Caitanya there. Somehow by the mercy of Lord Caitanya, Kanainatsala has come under the seva of ISKCON. So when Lord Caitanya went back to Navadvip He was a changed person. He left Navadvip as the greatest scholar, but when He came back, He was Gaurahari, the greatest devotee! So He met some devotees at the house of Suklambara brahmacari. He told them how it is to have Krsna and then lose him! Then He did kirtan there for twelve hours. Tears were flowing from His eyes like Ganges water. He put His arms around different devotees, around their necks. Then He was chanting. Gadadhar prabhu was there. He said, “You are a devotee since Your birth. I wasted so much time in argumentation and scholarship.” Like this He was having exchanges with each devotee. They were overwhelmed. Nimai Pandit had become a devotee! HE WILL DEFEAT EVERY ATHEIST, EVERY DEMON! He will establish the Harinam sankirtan. Like this He had different pastimes there which are described in the Caitanya Mangal, Caitanya Bhagavat and other sastras. Then Lord Nityananda joined Him. They were doing kirtan around Navadvip dhama. So one day, Srivas Thakur, he was in Koladvip. And Devananda Pandit was giving a Bhagavatam class. Srivas sat in the back. When Srivas heard the Bhagavatam slokas, he started to cry. He went into ecstasy. But the students of Devananda Pandit thought that he is crazy. He is disturbing our serious class. At that time Devananda Pandit was a mayawadi. He gave interpretation of the Bhagavatam of merging into the brahma jyoti. Nobody was feeling ecstasy. Because the Bhagavatam is pure bhakti nectar. But he was giving his Bhagavatam class, very dry. But Srivas just heard the verses and started crying in ecstasy. Devananda Pandit’s students lifted Srivas up and threw him on the street. Devananda Pandit did not object. One day Lord Caitanya was walking in Koladvip, in Koridanga and He saw Devananda Pandit. There were many devotees present. And He started to chastise Devananda Pandit. You give Bhagavatam class, but you nothing of the Bhagavatam. You have offended Srivas who is a great devotee. And He said many things critical of Devananda Pandit. Devananda Pandit’s ears were burning. How he was criticized publicly by Sri Gauranga! One of his relatives was Vakreswara Pandit. Vakreswara Pandit is the dancer who could dance for 72 hours nonstop in kirtan! 72hours, 3 days and nights! If we dance for two hours, we will – it is time for prasadam! Ha! So Vakreswara Pandit told Devananda Pandit that Lord Caitanya is Krsna Himself. He has come as a devotee to teach bhakti. Like this, He changed the heart of Devananda Pandit. So when Srivas Thakur came to Kulia again, he begged for forgiveness. So that place is known Aparadh bhanjan Kulia path. When we go on Navadvip Parikrama to Koladvip, we beg for forgiveness for all our offences. So now we should be very careful not to commit vaisnava aparadh. Al vaisnavas are very dear to Lord Krsna. Therefore, we should also be very respectful of all devotees. The GBC has a law that even if the husband hits his wife, it is a vaisnava offence. That not only is she a wife but also a vaisnavi. So you should be very careful how you deal with vaisnavas, vaisnavis. Srila Prabhupada explained how his Krsna consciousness movement spread so quickly in the western countries. Because there were no vaisnavas there, there was no vaisnava aparadh! But with time, they started to commit aparadh. I think that Malaysia also there were no vaisnava aparadhs, therefore the movement spread very quickly. But presently we should be very careful not to go into vaisnava aparadh. We may not agree with someone and someone may not agree with us, but we should respect them as vaisnavas. It is very serious. It could impede the preaching and the Krsna consciousness of devotees. Maybe we could have a day when we remember all the pioneers of the Malaysian yatra. I was presented last night that we are moving from the primaric stage to administrative stage. But we could remember our great pioneers that started the Malaysian yatra. Bhakti Vrajendranandana Swami, Vrndavancandra prabhu, Radha Madhava prabhu, some are still here! Adipurusa prabhu and his wife. Simheshwar prabhu and Lila Madhavi. So many are there. We should remember, they gave their everything to spread the Krsna consciousness movement in the beginning. We may be going into a different phase, that is alright, but we should remember those pioneers that started the movement. Simheshwar was, and still is so main stay. Some of our devotees have migrated to different countries, some are still here. Shantirupa, she is a pioneer. Radharaj and Suya devi mataji. I have stayed in Radharaj’s house for 19 days. Ram sharan prabhu. So, so many devotees. Somebody should take the time to note everyone. Many of them have already left. We should be very grateful for their contribution. Now we have many devotees, and we want to go ahead. So we should think how to do the succession. We are so glad that our youths are engaged in kirtan melas. I am 100% sure that they are our future! In the meantime, we have many devotees who are take different responsibilities, different sevas. I am eager to meet the HODs. Somehow we should expand Krsna consciousness further. I heard that in Johor Baru there are four branches – naalu (four in Tamil). So then how many branches should there be in KL when Johor Baru has four? Of course there are two branches, one in Penang Island and one in Sebaranga Jaya. I am ready to hear if some volunteers want to see me or send me email at jayapataka@gmail.com. Who wants to start another branch in KL? It is not easy to take responsibility! Anyway, Srila Prabhupada he had his blessing on this Malaysia yatra. So all glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to the Malaysian pioneers! All glories to the Malaysian devotees! Haribol!

I hope my legacy is that I respect all devotees and all those who follow me and are very active and responsible in Krsna’s service. Of course there are many gurus’ disciples in Australia. But somehow my disciples have taken great responsibilities. Almost every temple in Australia, my disciples are in some responsible position. Whether they are my diksa or siksa disciples, we want all the devotees to take the movement forward, whether they are my nieces or nephews. We thank the devotees from China who have come here! Hare Krsna!

I am reminded of some other pioneers – (not clear) Tyaga? Caitanya and Vasantaraga mataji. Tatvavit prabhu and his wife, she gets two mentions. Also Brihatbhagavatamrita prabhu, he has a birthmark! Rasaraj and Lajjarani, they have moved to the USA. Pritirupini mataji, Dhanista mataji, Paripurnananda, she is our first devotee in Malaysian airlines and after her many joined. Maharani. Anyway, someone should write it all down. So two recordings – one for the Damodar month, Om Tatsat!
