Mukham karoti vacalam pangum langayate girim
Yat kripa tam aham vande sri gurum dina tarinam
Paramananda Madhavam Sri Caitanya Isvaram

So you already read the verse today, Yes or no? So Lord Nrsimhadeva, He came to fulfill the word of His devotee Prahlad, and He also kept the word of Lord Brahma. In the Bhagavad-gita Krsna says how He always protects His devotees. Na me bhakta pranasyati. And also He reciprocates with His devotees. Yoga kshemam vahamyaham. Prahlad had full faith that Krsna will protect Him. So always He protected him. Some devotee asked me last night, how can we have the firm faith that Prahlad had? But hearing this history of Prahlad, that should help to build our faith, depending on Krsna, He will help us. Having Krsna as your friend, it is an unmatchable thing. Krsna can protect you, as in Bengali they say: Krsna mare rakhe ke, Krsna rakhe mare ke. If Krsna wants to kill you, who can protect you? And if K protects you, who can kill you? That was shown in this pastime of Prahlad. Hiranyakasipu he tried in various ways to kill Prahlad, but he was unable to. Then he decided, he will do it himself. And then he asked, is your Lord in this pillar? And Prahlad said, yes, He is everywhere. So actually one of the names of Nrsimhadeva is Prahladananda – He gives pleasure to Prahlad. You see the Lord comes in various avatars to show His various pastimes. To give some devotees pleasure! Otherwise, He has no reason to show His pastimes. So in the history of all the avatars, there is always someone who He has given pleasure. Nrsimhadeva, He is a very special avatar. Not only did He appear and save Prahlad, but afterwards He also stayed with Prahlad for some time. In south India you will see various temples of Nrsimhadev, like Melkote in Karnataka, there is Yoga Nrsimha. He showed there how to meditate, in the form of Yoga Nrsimha. He is showing Prahlad that this is the way to meditate. So He is in a meditative mood. He doesn’t need meditating, He is showing Prahlad. And like that in different temples, how Krsna and different avatars are non-different from Krsna. Like in Ahobilam, there is a deity of Nrsimhadeva with bows and arrow of Lord Rama. And Hanuman, he only wanted to worship Rama. So Nrsimhadeva told him that He was also Rama. And He showed that He had Rama’s bows and arrow. So like this we believe that there is only one God but He assumes a variety of forms. Not only each avatar has a particular mood, and then you have to approach that avatar with that specific mood. So Nrsimhadeva’s specific mood is to protect His devotees using force if necessary. So Lord Nrsimhadeva is generally very angry. Because His devotee was tortured and persecuted. So He also removed all the obstacles from His devotees’ path. Now I went to one temple in Bengal. Shyamarasika has some experience of that. So the pujari there said, I have a shaligram of Ugra Nrsimha. But I am a grihastha. I am afraid to worship this deity. It should be worshipped by a brahmachari! Haribol! The brahmachari woke up! So the depending on the avatar, these deities have a particular mood. So Laksmi Nrsimha is very peaceful mood. So Lord Caitanya, He came in Navadvip and this dham is known as Audarya dham. He is very merciful! You approach the Lord that you want His mercy! This dham is dripping with mercy! Who needs mercy? When Nrsimhadeva, He was flying from South India, He came over Navadvip dham and He landed here at Nrsimhapally. And there in the mood of Navadvip dham, He became very peaceful. All the devas they came down and built cottages. There they served Lord Nrsimhadeva. So that is known as Devapally or Nrsimhapally. There Lord Nrsimhadeva is in a very merciful mood. So how each of the avatars has a particular mood. So if you want the obstacles from your path removed, then Nrsimhadeva is the right person. So when Lord Caitanya went into the ocean in Puri, He was caught in a net of a fisherman. The fisherman knew to chant the name of Lord Nrsimhadeva, to protect him. So he thought this is a ghost in my net. So when he touched Lord Caitanya, he felt ecstatic symptoms. His hairs were standing on end, his voice became choked up, he was trembling in his body, tears flowing from his eyes, and he thought he was possessed by a ghost. So he was feeling ecstasy but he was also feeling afraid. He chanted the name of Lord Nrsimhadeva but by chanting the name of Nrsimhadeva, he became more ecstatic. So he was chanting loudly. Oh! Nrsimhadev! Oh!oh! So Swarup Damodar said I know how to get rid of the ghost. So he slapped the fisherman three times. Now the ghost has gone! Tell me where is that thing which you caught in the net? Then he said, it was on the beach. So they saw Lord Caitanya was there but His arms and legs were disjointed. So they put a cloth on the beach, laid Him on the cloth and started to chant Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare. Lord Caitanya’s hands came back together! The joints all came back together and like this He was in a half half mood. So then He was describing how He say the moonlight in the ocean. He thought it was the Yamuna. Bring down the Yamuna right? Here we have the Ganga. On the west bank is Yamuna. Prahlad audio break here. So the fisherman, he knew Lord Caitanya but he didn’t know who this nine feet long creature is because He had expanded. Some devotee asked Swarup Damodar that the fisherman was Lord Caitanya? He said that since he was chanting the names of Nrsimhadeva and showing ecstatic symptoms, and showed that he had touched Lord Caitanya, that is why he was experiencing the ecstatic symptoms. Nobody could chant the names of Nrsimhadeva and still be haunted by ghosts. So he was just afraid. So that is why I slapped him to take away his fear. So we are experiencing Lord Nrsimhadeva’s avatar. And we should understand that Krsna comes as different avatars. So He came as Nrsimhadeva to protect and give pleasure His devotee Prahlad. The devas wanted to kill Prahlad. They captured Kayadu, the wife of Hiranyakasipu, but Narada muni told them this is a Visnu devotee, don’t worry. So they gave Kayadu to Narada muni and Narada muni taught Prahlad in the womb. This is a good message for the mothers. While your child is in the womb in the last months, he can hear! So if you tell him or her the message of Bhagavad-gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, then they will be born with this knowledge already inside them! It is a very important thing. In the market in America they sell devices, something like plastic horns, so that you can speak to your child in the womb. But they don’t know what to say! Probably prajalpa? Audio not clear here We should tell the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. That way, like Prahlad when he was born, he had full knowledge. Kayadu forgot! She did not practice. Audio break. Chant the holy name. But the kids, they want to play. Half their lives they spend sleeping, then eating, like this he told how their whole life gets wasted. Then he said, spend some time chanting Hare Krsna. Then he had all the children chanting Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare! So the teachers they complained to Hiranyakasipu, somehow your son he has knowledge of Krsna. Then Hiranyakasipu said, there must be some vaisnavas sneaking into the ashram! So have the guards shoot at sight, any vaisnava in the school! They didn’t know that Prahlad already had the knowledge. If some vaisnava came by the school, they would shoot! Ha! So you are safe! There are many examples like this. How the Lord reciprocates with His devotees? In Srikhanda, it is near Katwa. Safari visited there. Mukunda Nanda, he told his son Raghunandan after he got upanayanam, that he had to go and see some disciple. He told his son to please give bhoga to the deity, the deity would eat them and then you can have prasadam. So the son was like Prahlad, small, six years old. So he brought a plate of laddoos for the Laddoo Gopal deity. So he offered and said, please take this offering. Normally the deities just look at the offering and They eat by seeing. But the child thought that the deity would eat them! So he thought that I did something wrong! He started to cry! And the deity asked him why are you crying? He said, you are not eating! I want you to eat! Yes, my father said, you will eat. So the deity ate all the laddoos. Then Raghunandan brought the empty plate to the mother, father was out. So she asked where are the laddoos? He said, oh, the deity ate them! She looked at him and wondered! So this was going on every day. So then the husband, Mukundananda, he came back. She told him what was happening. He thought may be the son is eating the laddoos! Then Mukundananda said to give the offering of a plate of laddoos to the son, he will offer and I will stand behind the deities in the temple and see what is going on. So he hid at the back of the temple. He heard his son, saying, please, Gopal, accept these laddoos. He did not hear anything. So he stuck his head out! Oh! He gasped! The deity was eating the laddoo! OH! The deity heard the gasp and was still. OH OH! Gasp! So then Mukundananda came out and said I caught You red handed! I can see half of the laddoo eaten! So that deity is still there. Just like Raghunandan had full faith, Prahlad, he had full faith. Therefore, he believed that Nrsimhadeva will protect him at all costs! Jai Nrsimhadeva ki jai! Prahlad Nrsimhadeva ki jai! Prahlad Maharaj ki jai!

In the Brihad Bhagavatamrita Narada muni is trying to find who is a greatest devotee. Eventually he went to see Prahlad. Prahlad said, I am not the greatest, there are so many others! Each devotee, he would direct Narada muni to the next devotee. There are many things which we can realize from these pastimes. What time is it? I was reading the Padma Purana, there was history from some other kalpa. There Hiranyakasipu built a big hall, 100 km long and 50 km wide. Anyone who went inside the hall, they won’t get old, they would have no disease, get free food. There they worship Hiranyakasipu. H ki jai! You are not devotees! Ha! Ha! Because he was a demon, people would be materially happy! So everybody liked him, H is great! But if you didn’t do what he wanted, he would torture you or kill you! You worship him, you work for him, you will get all facilities, you vote for him! Ha! Ha! But if you go against him, finished! So he worshipped Lord Siva and he got some similar blessing that he won’t be killed by man, or animal, he won’t be killed in day or night, but he didn’t ask in and out. A few differences. So he said to Prahlad, if your God doesn’t come by 6, I will kill you. So then Nrsimhadeva, He entered into the hall. He was flying – like Air India flying, Lufthansa! Ha! So Hiranyakasipu said, no beasts allowed here. But Nrsimhadeva did not listen to him! Then he sent his air force but Nrsimhadeva’s hair spread out, the mane of the lion! Then Nrsimhadeva hit them and the demons were caught like insects and they were burnt to ashes. Then Hiranyakasipu he sent missiles to get Him! But Nrsimhadeva caught the missiles and threw them down! Then Nrsimhadeva was coming flying, coming closer and closer! Then Hiranyakasipu, he flew up and tried to kill Nrsimhadeva with his sword. They had a big fight. Then Nrsimhadeva grabbed Hiranyakasipu, and sat on his throat and bifurcated him! So that is the pastime. So in different kalpas there are different Nrsimha lilas. So I found that very interesting! So each avatar has got a particular mood. Ramachandra had one mood, Krsna had one mood. Lord Caitanya had another mood. His mood was to give out mercy! Whether you are qualified or not, still Nitai Gaur would give out the mercy! But Krsna, you have to surrender, and then He would give mercy! So we have a great opportunity now, Krsna has come as Gauranga to give us all His mercy. And Srila Bhakti Vinoda Thakura said, we should pray to Lord Nrsimhadeva to remove the obstacles for us to can surrender to Lord Caitanya or Krsna. Haribol! Haribol! Hariiiiiiibol! Nrsimhadev ki jai! Bhakta Prahlada ki jai! Nitai Gaura ki jai! Any questions? One question.

Question: Hare Krsna maharaj: My question is Kayadu must have some past benediction to have had Prahlad as her son. Could you elaborate?

Guru maharaj: I don’t know particularly what Kayadu did. But to get a devotee child it is said you should pray to the deities. Before trying to conceive. So like Srila Bhakti Vinoda Thakura and his wife, they prayed to Lord Jagannatha to have a ray of Visnu, and they had Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura, as their son. So one thing is praying to the deities. Then Srila Prabhupada said, you should chant extra rounds. The grihasthas only can do this yagna. Brahmacharis they cannot do! So the grihasthas they pray to the deities and they chant 50 rounds, or whatever they can chant. There is a ceremony called garbha dana samskara, which is a very simple ceremony. So these things can be done to get a devotee child. Sachi mata had eight miscarriages of eight daughters and then Jagannath Misra did a special yagna to have a male devotee child. He got Viswarupa and Viswambhar. Viswambar is Lord Caitanya and Viswarupa was a form of Sankarsana, who is an expansion of Balarama. Nityananda was Balarama. So of course Hiranyakasipu was Jay Vijay. They had been cursed by the four Kumaras. So they gave them options of three births as demons or some births as devotees. So they chose three births as demons, to get back to their service. So unique case.

Ok thank you very much. Have a very blissful Nrsimha caturdasi! I would like to mention that there is a Temple of Vedic Planetarium, and this morning it was announced that you give donation to the TOVP, that Ambarisa prabhu would match it up to today. But one thing wasn’t mentioned, that every donation you give to the TOVP, my disciples or my zone, 50% goes to the planetarium exhibits, which I am responsible for. So that was mentioned today. So if you are not able to donate today, I still get 50% for the TOVP exhibits. But if you give today, Ambarisa prabhu will match it. I got Rs. 14 lacs donation from Andhra Pradesh, in South India, yesterday for TOVP! Will deposit that today to get the matching from Ambarisa prabhu! Thank you very much! Haribol!
