Question: You say when we get that higher taste nothing is comparable, but we have no idea of that taste, so it is hard for us to be steady and we keep falling down. What can we do to be fixed up and not be allured by lower tastes?

Jayapatākā Swami: My dear aspiring daughter that is what the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness is about. Taking initiation, following the principles, we should get some higher taste. I pray for you that you get this higher taste. Sometimes by the mercy of Lord Caitanya we get a glimpse of the higher taste, so that is just to give us more inspiration, but actually when we advance we will have higher taste all the time. Sometimes we will get the higher taste in kīrtana, maybe by reading the pastimes of the Lord, when we are hearing a class, we get inspired, we want to realize that. Śrīla Prabhupāda says that as we go on, it is a gradual process and our taste increases, but we can also advance very quickly. It depends on our desire. Like a little baby he is crying waan waan waan! But if the baby really cries, WAAAN! MUMMMYYYY! Then the mother comes and picks up the baby right away. So if you want the mercy of Lord Caitanya now cry for it!
