How Can We Help?

Question: We read in the biography, Srila Prabhupada said, let them chant Haribol! Haribol! And we will chant Hare Krsna and go back to Godhead. Then in Caitanya Caritamrita it is said that the three mantras to be chanted in kirtan in Krsna consciousness movement are Panca Tattva mantra, Hare Krsna maha mantra and Hari Haraya Nama Krsna. Why did Srila Prabhupada always end the kirtan with the Hare Krsna mantra and no Haribols or Jais?

Jayapataka Swami: He said we can chant Hari Haraya Nama Krsna in Mayapur because Lord Caitanya He liked that mantra. That was what exactly he said. But in the Hare Krsna movement mainly he would chant the Panca Tattva mantra and then Hare Krsna. I don’t know where this is about chanting Haribol Haribol! But sometimes we chant Haribol but that is not our main mantra. We are trying to get kirtan in Mayapur restricted to these mantras –Sri Krsna Caitanya, Hare Krsna, Hari Haraya. I had some darshan with the kirtinayas but they still like to chant Nitai Gaura Hari! Jai Sacinandana Gaura Hari! Caitanya Caritamrita, Madhya Lila 25th chapter 64th verse purport: Whenever we are chanting the Hare Krsna maha mantra, Srila Prabhupada considered chanting Hari Haraya Nama Krsna as another way of chanting Hare Krsna maha mantra. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna. He is the descendant of the Yadu family. Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Gopala, Govinda, Rama and Sri Madusudana.
We chant Hari Haraya Nama Krsna Yadava Namaha, Gopal Govinda Ram Sri Madhusudhan.
