Jayapatākā Swami: The reason for that is that we are not completely attracted towards Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. That is why in the material world we enjoy for some period of time. I am saying that we are allowed to have some material enjoyment with some regulations. We want to eat nicely, but we don’t eat meat, fish, egg, onion, garlic. We prepare sattvic food in the mood of goodness and offer it to Kṛṣṇa with devotion. Then we can take that so naturally we feel good taking prasāda. Those who want, they can be gṛhasthas and try to raise their children to become devotees, but if we don’t get married and indulge in illicit sexual activities that is forbidden. In the beginning we are on the material platform and therefore not getting the higher taste and remaining in the material platform. We follow the rules and regulations for the activities of the material world, then in this way gradually we develop the higher taste. People like to take intoxication, to forget their problems, but their problems do not go away so we don’t take intoxication. By Kṛṣṇa’s mercy we can gradually achieve the higher taste.
