Question: In Srimad Bhagavatam 4.4.13 purport, Srila Prabhupada writes, “a great soul may forgive offences but Krsna does not excuse offences to the dust of that great soul’s feet.” First how do we understand this? Second, in case one feels that one has offended a devotee, he can seek forgiveness but how can one save one’s self from offences to the dust of his feet?

Jayapataka Swami: (audio break) Forgive someone for his offence but if the devotee doesn’t forgive then Krsna, He won’t forgive. You could go to Krsna and ask please forgive me for the offense to Your devotee, but He won’t do it. You have to go to the devotee and get his forgiveness. In case of Saci mata, she had offended Advaita Gosain and Advaita would not forgive her, because He thought He was too fallen. So He fainted while He was glorifying mother Saci. So then Lord Caitanya advised His mother, to take the dust from Advaita’s lotus feet, because she had offended the dust of His lotus feet. So she took the dust from His feet and put it on her head. Thus she got forgiven for her offence.
